How a discount is calculated
The saving is Price × discount/100. For example, an £80 item at 25% off: you save £20 and pay £60.
Stacked discounts don’t add up
20% then another 10% is not the same as 30%. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price: £100 → £80 → £72, which is 28% off in total, not 30%. It’s best to calculate them step by step.

Frequently asked questions
How do I work out 25% off? Multiply the price by 0.75; the rest (0.25 of the price) is your saving.
How do I find the discount between two prices? Subtract the sale price from the original, divide by the original and multiply by 100.
Does it include VAT? It works on whatever price you enter; if that includes VAT, so does the result.
